Hi, I’m Donna Appel — founder of A Voice for Change.
I started A Voice for Change in the early 2000s because I had questions I could not ignore. I had gone through my own health struggles. I knew what it felt like to be tired, frustrated, overwhelmed, and unsure where to turn. I also knew there had to be more to wellness than managing symptoms, following the same old advice, and accepting that decline was just part of getting older.
So I started researching.
Not casually. Not once in a while. I mean really researching — digging into food, toxins, natural healing, the medical system, the environment, farming practices, body burden, personal responsibility, and the many ways our daily choices affect our health.
That search became A Voice for Change.
Some readers may also know me as Donna Sherman, my married name, but A Voice for Change has always been my official home online at avoiceforchange.com.
This website was built for people who are asking deeper questions about health, food, freedom, and what it means to take responsibility for their own well-being. It is not here to tell you what to think. It is here to encourage you to look closer, ask better questions, and remember that your body is not broken just because the system has failed to explain what is happening.
Over the years, my work has covered many areas of health and wellness — nutrition, detoxification, environmental toxins, soil health, food quality, natural remedies, energy exposure, medical freedom, personal healing, and the connection between the body, mind, and spirit. Some of these topics are uncomfortable. Some are controversial. But I have never believed that avoiding hard conversations helps anyone heal.
I believe people deserve information.
I believe they deserve choice.
I believe they deserve to understand what is going into their bodies, their homes, their food, their water, their soil, and their children.
A Voice for Change has grown through many seasons of my life. It began as a place to share what I was learning, and it has become a home for people who are tired of being talked down to, dismissed, or told not to question anything. I am not new to this work. I have been walking this road for a long time, and my purpose has always been the same: to help people become more awake, more informed, and more confident in their own health decisions.
Today, A Voice for Change focuses on three main areas.
MAHA Monday is where I talk about health sovereignty, personal responsibility, and the systems that shape our choices.
Why Wednesday is where I slow things down and explain the confusion — why health advice conflicts, why people second-guess themselves, and why the body often gives us clues before we are taught how to listen.
Farmland Friday is where I talk about food, soil, farming, stewardship, and why the health of the land is deeply connected to the health of the people.
At the center of all of it is one simple belief: we cannot separate personal health from the world we live in.
The food we eat matters. The soil it grows in matters. The water we drink matters. The products we bring into our homes matter. The information we trust matters. And our freedom to choose matters.
I am not here to replace your doctor or tell you what path to take. I am here to share what I have learned, ask honest questions, and encourage you to become an active participant in your own health.
Because once you begin to see the connections, you cannot unsee them.
And once you realize that your choices matter, you start living differently.
Thank you for being here. I hope this space helps you feel less alone, more curious, and more empowered to keep asking questions.
With love and truth,
—Donna 💚
